    Feel the Burren Light!

    Discover Ireland's Burren National Park

A quest for light in Ireland's Burren National Park

At the front of my house lay the hills of Burren, a beautiful and extraordinarily rich ecosystem carved by rain and shaped by humans through generations of farming and gathering.

Many passing visitors will describe the Burren as a harsh rocky landscape lashed on by Atlantic winter storms, the occasional tortured shrubs dotting the limestone pavements otherwise bare of any vegetation.

With Burren hills and lowlands at my doorstep I am fortunate to venture out as much as possible, often disregarding clueless weather forecasts. I have witnessed the season changes and continue to observe the variation of light on the landscape as sun and moon change trajectory throughout the months.

I have also seen native orchids, fabulous wild flowers, vivid green hair algae, alpine rainforests, otters, badgers, porcupines, foxes, herds of ferral goats and countless rabbits and hares!

I have come to love the Burren and appreciate all it has to give for it hosts perhaps the richest ecosystem in Ireland. I hope my photography will bring you to a place you have not expected to find.

A place where the light is nothing short of magical.

What you will find on this website

Rural splendor

Shaped by generations of farming throughout the ages, the Burren has many bucolic sceneries to share.

Lush landscapes

I like to refer to 'Permagreen' to describe the constant lush greenery found in the Irish countryside.

Dramatic seascapes

The relentless tides and the many winter storms constantly erode the Burren coastline. Be safe out there!

Lakes and mirrors

Perhaps my best inspiration, Bsurren lakes at dusk often display the most magnificent reflections.

The occasional fury friend

The Burren simply wouldn't be this great ecosystem without our farmed and wild animals.

Dragons and castles

A pletora of neolitic tombs, castles, churches and watch towers left by our ancestors since they settled in the Burren.

Rocks, of course!

There is a lot of rock in the Burren. Part of the fun is learning to use them as foreground!

And if this not enough
