I have to admit I ventured slightly outside of the Burren Lowlands to get that shot. This is the river meandering through the Chevy Chase woods, on the outskirts of the Lowlands. This beautiful little wood is teaming with non native rhododendrons (these can be see on the left river bank here) and although we don't like the spread of this very invasive shrub, it is a colourful addition to the landscape in spring.
By autumn those flowers are long gone. It is time for the decaying leaves to peak in colours and impress us with beautiful displays of gold.
